On April 2, 1946, Hotel Il Ponte opened for the first time to its customers, passing from generation to generation and still belongs to the same family today. The credit goes to grandfather Bruno Porciani who after building the Hotel Il Ponte did not stop, but continued with the construction of the Hotel Nina in Marina di Bibbona which at that time was one of the very few existing buildings.

Hotel Il Ponte overlooks the Via Aurelia, a road built by the Romans, and is located a few meters away from where the castle stood which was later renamed Fitto. In the XII century next to the castle there was a small "hospital" of the Templars, that is a place of shelter and refreshment for the residents and for those who crossed the "Via delle Maremme".
